Light lines and light dots carved into modelling clay. Projected onto a black surface, the forms appear to be made of fire. The large-scale projection lends it a cosmic dimension. A rendezvous with the ovary princess and black holes, trails of light in the cosmos of inner and outer space. Echo in the darkness of the night and the metamorphosis of the stars....

The film Echo was made as contribution for the Donaufestival in the former Sax-factory. To allow continuous operation, an old 16 mm loop projector was restored by a film mechanic and rebuilt to be fully functional. A dark space had been promised to me within the exhibition, which turned out to be much too bright to project a film in good quality. So I decided to project on black instead. I designed a table from a grid-element, onto which I secured the loop projector and a stela enveloped in black fabric. What had stared out as an act of protest, turned out to be an excellent possibility. The film image was perfectly sharp and seemed to glow out of the dark background. The film was silent, accompanied only by the sound of the projector. For the summer-cinema in conjunction with the exhibition a cinema version of Echo was made and shown for three weeks as supporting film for all screenings. >>>
